"Sashay Away," as RuPaul Sez :( End of An Era: Paris Vogue Editor Who Introduced Us To The Fabulousity of Andre J is Exiting Stage Left--Left Bank, that Is (Adieu Madamoiselle Roitfeld! )

Tell us it isn't so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Ce n'est pas vrai!!!!)  Paris Vogue says its editor-in-chief, Carine Roitfeld, has decided to leave after a 10-year tenure in which the French fashion monthly became "a worldwide reference and indispensable magazine". (Zut! Merde!) Mademoiselle Roitfeld is responsible for discovering Andre J., pictured above and below, and giving him the opportunity to shine in the pages of French Vogue.

The magazine says on its website that Roitfeld's years as the top editor were marked by "constant growth" both in terms of circulation and advertising.

Xavier Romatet, the head of Conde Nast France, the French arm of the US publishing house, said he "of course" regrets Roitfeld's decision to leave "even if I understand it." He didn't elaborate.

Roitfeld introduced us to the amazing Andre J. in all of his fashion and style fierceness* and really pushed the envelope and kept us thinking and talking about fashion in an extraordinary way.  And in this day and age, talking about more than just what's hot and what's not,  is truly refreshing.

*Andre J. cites the remarkable Donyale Luna as a muse/inspiration, as do the July26Twins, of course.
