Is That An Umbrella or Are You Just Happy to See Me?

Believe it or not, this dress is made of umbrella fabric and is designed by Brooklyn's Catherine Charlot with a group of other "Trashy Divas" participated in a fashion show featuring garments made from upcycled sources such as umbrella fabric, men's shirts and pants as well as jewelry made of trash bags--including the choker and blue bangle pictured above. The entire group of photos and information on the "Trashy Divas" group can be found at Catherine's blog at: http://himanerad.blogspot.com. 30% of the sales are going to support art programs in Haiti, Catherine's country of birth.
P.S. Thanks to all of those who donated clothing or umbrellas.

Coast Modern Architecture (California to Vancouver)

Check out the trailer for the upcoming documentary, "Coast Modern Architecture." This brief video will whet your appetite for the full-length version. It looks fascinating, especially the manner in which these architects explain how we as humans interact with nature through the built environment.
